Jakarta (ANTARA) – The government aims to reduce logistics costs from 14.29 percent to 8 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) to promote more efficient and competitive economic growth.
“The government aims to reduce logistics costs from 14.29 percent to 8 percent of GDP,” said Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi during the One-Day National Seminar on ‘Improving Logistics Performance in Indonesia: Reflections, Challenges, and Opportunities of the National Logistics System’ at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Bandung, West Java, on Thursday.
The Minister stated that the logistics development strategy for 2024-2045 involves several aspects, including digital transformation of logistics services, reduction of transportation costs, optimization of sea toll utilization, strengthening connectivity, and increasing inter-regional accessibility.
“This effort aims to reduce logistics costs from 14.29 percent to 8 percent of GDP,” the Minister said in a statement in Jakarta.
The Minister added that the Indonesian government continues to work on reducing national logistics costs through the development of a comprehensive strategy. The trend in Indonesia’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI) score has generally shown positive growth, even beginning to catch up with the Philippines’ LPI ranking.
According to him, transportation logistics efficiency is always a top concern for logistics players. Therefore, strengthening the national logistics system is needed to achieve the Golden Indonesia 2045 by reducing logistics costs and addressing various challenges.
